It is pleasure to mention that the Sri Lanka GLOBE program is very successfully driven among Sri Lankan schools on the guidance of Ministry of Education. Relating to their success, it’s necessary to establish a GLOBE club for school left members. So that there will be an opportunity to exchange the experiences of old GLOBE members with the new comers also.

GLE – 2007 at Thailand
The Global Learning Expedition (GLE) was held at the Navy Phirom Hotel, Hua Hin, Thailand, from 18th to 22nd November. This program was organized by the IPST (Institution for Promoting Teaching Science and Technology) in Bangkok, the country coordinator for the GLOBE program in Thailand. They organize this event annually.
Launching the official web site 2007
2007 was a year which brought fresh experience to the globe Club of Maliayadeva College. This year was special because we saw the launching of the Maliyadeva College Globe Club website.
Under the guidance of Madhuranga Rathnayake, an old boy of our GLOBE club, the website was launched at the school premises on November 2007, by a distinguished crowd headed by our school’s principal.
Maliyadeva GLOBE Club - 2006
During this year the GLOBE club carried its normal activities such as collecting daily weather reports and broadcasting them, conducting experiments on Hydrology near Kurunegala lake and Tempana reservoir and of course the advanced level projects. But apart from that we hosted many other different and special programs.
All Island GLOBE Camp 2005
The GLOBE Program in Sri Lanka organized a National GLOBE Campaign and GLOBE Day on 20-21 October 2005, at Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala. The event was a residential program including more than 275 students representing 32 schools and 60 teachers. The GLOBE Campaign and GLOBE Day were organized to increase awareness of the GLOBE Program among school children as a measure to expand student participation in GLOBE activities. These GLOBE activities were designed to share the experience gained by senior GLOBE students with newly enrolled students to the GLOBE program in the schools.
