During this year the GLOBE club carried its normal activities such as collecting daily weather reports and broadcasting them, conducting experiments on Hydrology near Kurunegala lake and Tempana reservoir and of course the advanced level projects. But apart from that we hosted many other different and special programs.
6 students representing the Globe club of our attended “Mihiru - Globe day” organized by the Sangamitta Balika Vidyalaya of Galle on 17th February 2006 and won the 1st place on the quiz competition. We also received the award for “Best Demonstrator”. Our members also performed a drama piece for entertainment.
Also a workshop on “climatic changes” was held under the guidance of the environmental authority of the North Western province. Also the 2nd GLOBE day was held in this year. This was held under the attendance of our club members and members from surrounding schools. It was held with participation of distinguished personnel such as Professor Basnayake, Dr. Abesinghe , Mr. Saman Senanayake and Ms. Damayanthi Balasooriya. Also CD’s and leaflets regarding climatic change and disaster control were given to participants.
